Robert L. Horner

NEWARK - Robert L. "Bob" Horner, 89, of Newark and formerly of Warsaw died February 26, 2009 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newark.

He was born June 21, 1919 in Welcome, Ohio, Holmes County to the late Irvin "Pete" and Nellie (Harford) Horner.

He was a graduate of Millersburg High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the 735th MP Battalion Co. in the European Theatre. He retired in 1983 from Ohio Power (AEP) as Coshocton, Ohio area manager after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Newark, AEP Veterans Assn., life member of the American Legion Post #192 in Millersburg, a former member of the Land of Legends Woodcarvers Club, and a former member of the Warsaw Lions Club. He and his wife traveled extensively visiting the 49 states, Canada, Europe, and Costa Rica.

He is survived by his wife, Mona (Conner) Horner, whom he married April 19, 1947. Also surviving is a son, Allen (Pat) Horner of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. A daughter, Jacquelyn Schrader of Chillcothe. Granchildren, Bethany (Ralph) Keeler of Orlando, FL and Amanda Horner of North Palm Beach, FL, Marie (Kevin) Shim of Chicago, IL, and Jeffrey (Dana) Schrader of Dayton. A sister-in-law, Arlene Baker of Plain City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Schrader, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Mark Katrick officiating, and services by the Coshocton County Joint Veterans Council. Burial will be at a later date in the Valley View Cemetery at Warsaw. Visitation is Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
