Robert E. Parker

Danville - On the glorious morning of Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, Robert “Bob” Eugene Parker, age 90, loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa left his earthly home in Danville, Ohio surrounded by loved ones.

Robert was born March 12th, 1931 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Clarence Darrell and Mary Esther (Winterringer) Parker. Graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1950, where he held the record for high jump for 13 years.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 as an air rescue medic in Korea. In 1953 while on leave, a friend set him up on a blind date with Margaret Faun Hains. They dated for a brief 3 weeks before he had to leave for Korea on Oct 10th. The two continued to correspond through mail until he was honorably discharged Oct. 5th, 1954. On Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 1954, they were joined in marriage at North Bend Church in Danville. This year on Thanksgiving Day, the couple would have celebrated 67 years of love filled marriage.

Robert resided in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Indiana, New Mexico, Danville, and after retirement, wintered in Sebring, Florida. He had several jobs which included Continental Can, Flxible Company and retired with over 30 years from Mansfield Plumbing Products.

Robert always enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Later in life he enjoyed sitting on the bench out front of the convenient store in Danville and visiting with the staff.  He was known to many as the “Candy Man” as he would always have a pocket full of mints or candy to share with anyone. He was a faithful, loving, hardworking, provider for his wife and daughters. Bob wasn’t wealthy by today’s standards, but was rich beyond measure in the love from his wife and family of four daughters, 4 sons-in-law, 9 grandchildren and their spouses, 27 great grandchildren and many friends and extended family. Being the hunter that he was, he truly understood Psalm 127:3-5 “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them,” He was a member of the Danville Church of Christ and his faith and family were always his priority.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Margaret “Faun”, his four daughters, Bobbi (and Lowell) Banbury of Brinkhaven, Terri (and Tom) Blanchard of Danville, Jodi (and Wayne) Keener of Greer and Penni (and Ron) Achamire of Loudonville and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mary Parker, brothers, Vance, Clarence Darrell (Dudley) and sisters, Agnes Woodward and Betty Beckholt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 5th at 3:00 p.m. at the Danville Church of Christ.  Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or any charity of your choice.
