Jacksonville, AR – Robert Lee Ryan, 65, formerly of Fredericktown, died on March 23, 2014.
He was born in Mount Vernon on September 14, 1948 to George and Opal Louise (Holzswarth) Ryan. He graduated from Fredericktown in 1966. He was drafted in 1968 by the U.S. Army, where he served in the Vietnam Conflict earning a Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1970. He was a past member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church.
Robert is survived by two sons; Stephen (Kelly Blubaugh) Ryan of Frazeysburg, and Todd (Tracy DeVore) Ryan of Danville, brothers; C. Thomas Ryan of Mount Vernon, and David (Sherrie) Ryan of Fredericktown, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Timothy Ryan.
He will be remembered by his family and friends as a wonderful, kind, and loving man, who was always smiling, and was there for you with an open heart and open arms.
A burial of Robert’s cremated remains will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 4 in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Knox County Joint Veterans Council will perform military honors.
