Danville - Ron Austin, 74, died at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his wife and children, Thursday May 6, 2010.
He was born in Coshocton County on September 3, 1935 to Charles and Bonnie (Frazee) Austin. Ron loved spending time with his family on outings and holidays. He had a full social life playing cards with the guys every Tuesday night, and playing the Hand and Foot game with close friends. He also never missed 3:00 coffee at the Lyon's Den in Danville. Ron was a carpenter most of his life, building and fixing homes in the community and surrounding towns. He was also an active member of the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his love, sense of humor, and kindness.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years; Helen (Fesler) Austin, a son; Doug Austin of Danville, 4 daughters; Kim (Marty) Rice, Keitha (Dan) Butts, and Patsy (Eric) Weiler all of Danville, and Melanie (Mike) Richert of Hanover, grandchildren; Jennifer and Joe Austin, Monica Haines, Bonnie and Olivia Rice, Renee Park, Danielle Kochis, Purcell and Lucas Butts, Trevor Nice, and Chandler Richert, 3 great grandchildren; McKenzie, Jordan, and Madison, a sister; Carolyn (Don) Blair of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday May 10, 2010 at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville. The Rev. F. Richard Snoke will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Sunday at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, where a prayer service will begin at 8:00 P.M.
