GLEN ELLYN, IL- Ruth Smith,105, passed away May 14, 2013.
Currently of Carol Stream, she was a Knox County, OH resident most of her life.
Beloved wife of the late Raymond Smith; loving mother of Joanne Travers of Glen Ellyn, IL and Jeanne (Domenic) Grano of Sparta, NJ; dear grandmother of Jennifer (Christopher) Larrabee, Timothy (Kristen) Travers, Christine (Kenneth) Chlodnicki, Andrew Grano, Debra (Christen) Ericson, Michael (Niamh) Grano; great grandmother of Catherine Larrabee, Jack Larrabee, Grace Larrabee, Samuel Travers, Matthew Travers, Rachael Travers, Alexis Chlodnicki, Carly Chlodnicki, Justin Chlodnicki, Madison Grano, Rylee Grano, Bella Ericson, Jack Ericson, Nicholas Grano, Lilly Grano and Emma Grano.
Ruth was a secretary for Dun & Bradstreet before becoming a homemaker. For many years, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, working in the hospitals in Mt. Vernon. She loved to bake, especially pies, and play euchre. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was well known for her ready smile and cheerful nature.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 420 Glenwood, Glen Ellyn, IL. www.leonardmemorialhome.com
