Danville - Sam J. Barkman, 86, of 14380 Tiger Valley Rd., died Thursday October 16, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on November 23, 1927 to Jacob and Lizzie Ann (Beachy) Barkman. On November 29, 1949, he married Lizzie Ann Mast. He was a member of the Old Order Amish, and became an ordained minister in October of 1968.
Surviving is his wife, Lizzie, 5 daughters and 3 sons; Esther (John) Miller of the home, Noah (Mattie) Barkman of Danville, Clara (Roy) Yoder of Fredericksburg, Atlee (Clara) Barkman of Big Prairie, Sarah (Mose) Wengerd of Howard, Dan (Anna) Barkman of Lakeville, Ada (Melvin) Yoder of Danville, and Lizzie (Albert) Hershberger of Danville, 62 grandchildren, and 77 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 still born son, 2 brothers, and 1 grandson.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. (fast time) Sunday October 19, at the Melvin Yoder residence on Tiger Valley Rd. Bishop Reuben E.Weaver will officiate.
Burial will be in Mast Cemetery on Black Rd.
Friends may visit the home anytime until the service Sunday. The Fischer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
