Mount Vernon - Samuel L. Davis, 84, died Sunday March 15, 2009 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born June 4, 1924 to Frank and Ethel (Edwards) Davis. On March 2, 1946 he was married to Inez E. Kohl. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, and the Delaware Post 0888 American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter; Karen (Hubert) Litt of Jefferson, a son; Steven (Judy) Davis of Nashport, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a sister; Betty Johnson of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Inez Davis, on March 5, 2002, brothers; George, Ellis, Don, and Dale Davis, and sisters; Erma Jones and Dolly Alberts.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday March 20, 2009 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Ben McKinstry will officiate. Burial, with graveside military rites from the Knox County Veterans Council, will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be from 5-8 on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to a Hospice organization of choice.
