WARSAW- Scott Anthony Fortune, 55, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
He was born Aug. 20, 1968 in Mt. Vernon to George and Judy (Thomas) Fortune. He was a 1986 graduate of River View High School, and began his work life at Rice-Chadwick in Killbuck. He later worked for Eagles Aerie #761 in Coshocton, and drove coach for Brewster Travel. He was currently a bus driver for River View Local School District.
Scott enjoyed NASCAR & dirt track racing, and building race cars with his brother Randy and his friend John Wilson. He loved spending time with his special nephew Garon, and having Sunday dinners with Skii & Meg. He was always willing to help those in need, exemplified by his service for the Walhonding Valley Fire District, where he was a fire fighter for several years.
He is survived by his son, Skii Fortune (Meg Schultz) of Warsaw; a grandson, Preston Fortune and great-granddaughter, Oaklin Fortune, both of Warsaw; his mother, Judy Fortune of Warsaw; a brother, Randy Fortune of Warsaw; a sister, Tammy (Richard) Guilliams of Conesville; two nieces, Marissa Guilliams of Warsaw, and Tiffany Grudier of Warsaw; and two nephews, Travis Guilliams of Coshocton, and Garon Grudier of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Fortune; and three sons, Lukas, Garrett, & Nickolas Fortune.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Bill Jones officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date in the McGrady Family Cemetery.
