DANVILLE- Sean Patrick Smith, 55, of Danville, passed peacefully away on May 21, 2025.

Sean was born in Columbus to Daniel and Diana Smith. After earning a degree in Education, he pursued a career in teaching, working with Nature’s Classroom. He later became the manager of the Gambier Community Library, and the Danville Public Library, where he inspired a love for reading and lifelong learning.

He will be remembered for his passion for teaching, his unwavering selflessness, warm sense of humor, deep compassion, his adoration for nature and his enduring love for the library and the Danville community. Sean found joy in puzzles, woodworking, and advocating for a path toward a more sustainable world.

Sean is survived by his mother, Diana Smith; his sister, Heather Ridinger; his nieces, Kristal Ridinger and Eva (Zach) Knox; his great-nephew, Gideon Knox; and several extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Danville Memorial Park, 802 S. Market St. Danville, OH 43014. Black is acceptable but tie-dye is recommended. Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is assisting with arrangements. FischerFuneralHome.com

Though Sean is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in every act of kindness we do in his name.
