Tom Llewellyn

January 30, 1938 — March 10, 2025

Mount Vernon, OH

MT. VERNON- Thomas B. Llewellyn Sr., age 87, formerly of Butler, passed away at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon on Monday, March 10, 2025.

He was born January 30, 1938 to the late Lloyd Bernett “Gravy” and Anna Catherine (Maidlow) Llewellyn in Butler. Tom lost his wife of 65 years and high school sweetheart, Nancy (Farst) Llewellyn, four years ago.

In addition to his wife and parents, Tom was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lori O’Hare; his sister, Nancy Eaches; and brother-in-law, Stacy Eaches.  Tom has left a legacy of laughter and love to his surviving children, Pam (Mike) Snow of Gambier, Tom (Justine) Llewellyn of Stow, and Brian Llewellyn of Stow; six grandchildren, Matt (Megan) Snow of Mount Vernon, Travis (Angel Prater) Snow of Westerville, Tara (Josh) Krieg of Springfield, Stephanie Llewellyn of Stow, Nick (Brandy) Llewellyn of Hudson, and Ryan (Cori) Llewellyn of Mogadore; 12 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

Tom had several jobs during his lifetime. He began working for Otis Elevators, North American Rockwell in Columbus, Essex Wire in Lexington, and retired from Gorman Rupp. Following his retirement, he went back to work at Lowes and finally retired again, this time from Walmart in Bellville

You could never be too close to Tom without being the target of, or audience to, his sense of humor and instruction.  His love for others and his community was clear.  He was a volunteer for the Worthington Township Fire Department for 52 years (several of those years as Assistant Fire Chief). He also took college courses and went to Arson School and assisted in a few investigations.  Tom was instrumental in starting a pony football league in Butler and Bellville with his friends Homer Walker and Bill Shaffer. He was a cub scout master, Sunday School Teacher and was active with church youth groups - just to highlight a few. He loved it when the house was full of kids and he made his homemade pizzas on Friday nights.

The family would like to thank many at Country Club for the excellent care Tom received while recuperating there, and to Capital City Hospice for their support, not only to him, but his family as well, in his last days. Also, thanks to Fischer Funeral Home who was very gracious and accommodating with the arrangements.

Those wishing to bid farewell and share memories are invited to join the family in a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Bunker Hill Cemetery near Butler.  In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made in his name to Worthington Township Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 20 W. Elm St.  Butler, OH 44822.
