Howard - Tracy Edward Williams, age 86, passed away September 8, 2010 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born in Clear Creek, WV to Kenner I. Williams and Luella (Workman) Stewart on August 23, 1924.
A WWII veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, the Navy from 1947-1952, and in the Air Force from 1955-1958. He was also in the Naval Air Reserves for 12 years. He retired from White Westinghouse as a job setter in 1983 after 32 years. He was a member of The Shepherd's House Church of the Nazarene in Howard, and was a member of the former Utica Hillside Church of the Nazarene, and the VFW Post 3441 in Columbus. He was married 62 years to Alice J. (Ailshire) Williams. He was a bowler at Amos Lanes until the 1980's, and golfed in the "Old Timers League" at Tomahawk Golf Course.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Michael Jon Williams, beloved aunt; Mardria Earnhart, brother; Frank E. Williams, sisters; June Kennard and Juanita Young, and a daughter-in-law; Billie.
He is survived by his wife; Alice of Howard, children; Walter M. Williams of Mt. Vernon, Carl Edward (Robin) Williams of Columbus, Mary Alice (Greg) Williams of Howard, daughter-in-law; Laurie Nevius Williams, half brothers and sister; Billy Steward, Myron Joe Williams, and Janet Lay, grandchildren; Allison (Joe) Fife, Alice L. Watson, Tracie M. (Jeremy) Rowland, Brittany (Justin) Lloyd, Tim and Michelle Williams, Brandie (Matt) Painter, and Bart Theobald, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also, special nephew and niece; Larry and Carolyn Wight.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Knox Community Hospital, and social worker; Connie.
A graveside service, with military rites, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on broad St. in Columbus. Rev. Dr. Gary Sivewright will officiate. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday at the Fischer Funeral Home, 403 High St., Danville.
