Mount Vernon – Vonetta Sheasby, 86, formerly of Danville, passed away on Thursday April 9, 2015, at her residence.
She was born in Detroit, MI on September 30, 1928 to Harry and Berta (Edwards) Landis. On December 14, 1948, she married Daniel Sheasby. Vonetta was a lifelong, dedicated Christian. She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ, the Ohio Eastern Star, and the East Knox Lions Club. Her life was dedicated to the welfare of her family and supporting her husband in his work. She gave up her life style for 11 years while Dan worked in England. She loved to sing, and was a former church choir singer. She also helped to raise money for uniforms when the Danville Youth League was formed.
Vonetta was always there to help in her quiet, unassuming way. She was a true lady, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel I. Sheasby of Mount Vernon, sons; Daniel C. Sheasby of Sante Fe, NM, and Kevin L. Sheasby of Ashland, a sister, Joyce Osada of Dearborn, MI, a brother, Robert Landis of Ocala, FL, grandsons; Chris Sheasby of Westminster, MD, Nathan Sheasby of Abilene, TX, and Nik Sheasby of Nashville, TN, a great grandson, Noah, and a great granddaughter, Ella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Harrieta Coleman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at the Danville Church of Christ. Pastor Gary Kochheiser will be officiating. Burial will follow in Quarry Chapel Cemetery in College Twp. Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
