Danville - Wanda Marie James, 84, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Country Court Nursing Home.
She was born in Johnson County Arkansas on June 25, 1930 to Ella Esther (St. Claire) and William Archie Mayfield. She married Odean James on April 24, 1948.
Marie had many talents. She did sewing, crocheting, ribbon, broidery, and quilting, and she had a "green thumb" when it came to any type of plants. She was also a member of the North Bend Church of the Brethren, and an Avon sales representative for 25 years.
She is survived by her children; Dean (Connie) James of Danville, Jeanie (Dan) Blubaugh of Danville, Rick (Chris) James of Mount Vernon, and Gwen (Jerry) Tharp of Howard, 12 grandchildren; Steve, Tina, Crystal, DJ, Monica, Cheryl, Leigh, Janis, Cody, Brittany, Jeremy, and Nick, 21 great grandchildren, sisters; Faye Young, Louise Franklin, and Cathy Verser, and a brother, Pete Mayfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Odean, who died March 1, 2010, a son, Bill James, sisters; Maxine Johnson and Melba Mayfield, and brothers; Lloyd and Bill Mayfield.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 at the North Bend Church of the Brethren, 24474 Orange Hill Rd. Danville, 43014. Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
