HOWARD - William David "Bill" Heaton, 84, passed away Friday May 20, 2016 at Centerburg Pointe.
He was born in Coshocton on December 17, 1931 to the late Clarence W. and Margaret Ruth (Swank) Heaton. He was a Korean War Army Veteran, serving from 1950-53 with the 3rd Infantry Division. On November 3, 1951, he married Barbara Joann "Jody" Kunkel.
Bill owned and operated Heaton Appliances for 52 years, and farmed for many years at home, especially after retiring. He was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church, the Knox County Historical Society, the Knox County Genealogical Society, and a charter member of the East Knox Lions Club.
Surviving are his three daughters; Becky (Tony) Roddy of Walhonding, Sharon Ratai of Mount Vernon, and Nancy Weaver of Obetz, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters; Laurie Mills, and Diane Waite, and two sisters; Margaret Ann Fox and Jeannette Nickles.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Tom Orr will officiate. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery in Monroe Township, with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
