XENIA- Barton Dan Baker, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 2, 1945 in Mt. Vernon to the late Joe and Lucille (Saunier) Baker. He married his first wife and mother of his children, Sandra (Wilhelm) Baker, on September 19, 1964, and for more than 40 years they exemplified what marriage is all about. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2004.
Dan was the owner & operator of the former Warsaw Lumber & Supply for many years, as well as Dan Baker Auctioneer. He built multiple homes in Warsaw, loved hunting, 4-wheeling and camping, and watching stock car races. He raced motorcycles with Skip Ferrell and Jack Berry for years, and he sponsored & played basketball for the Warsaw Lumber & Supply team in the men's Coshocton County Basketball League. He was always willing to help out anyone in need.
Dan was a member of the Xenia Nazarene Church where he was involved in Missions work, was a long-time member of the Ohio Auctioneer's Association, Warsaw Lions Club, and the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Dept. He served on Warsaw Village Council and the River View Community Park Board for several years, and coached Little League baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Edie (Carity-Davison) Baker of Xenia, whom he married June 17, 2006; three children, Brad (Melissa) Baker of Danville, Barry (Sonya) Baker of Grove City, and Brooke (Ed) Honabarger of Howard; grandchildren, Dayne (Allison) Baughman, Brock (Samantha) Baker, Emma (Chris) Cox, Leah Baker, Brett Baker, Monica (Dylan) Wears, and Cal Honabarger; great-grandchildren, Johnnie and Maeve Baughman, Parker and Baylor Chrisman, Beckett Baker, Ezra Cox, and Baby Girl Wears to arrive in June; two siblings, Roger (Kathy) Baker of Danville, and Ann Baker of Coshocton; his in-laws, Shirley (Pete Wilms) Wilhelm, and Sheila Tumblin; nieces and nephews, Lori (Ted) Bratton, Shari (Steve) Lauderbaugh, Neil (Becky) Baker, Maggie (Jon Witter) Donahue, Hadley Donahue, Chad (Kim) Tumblin, and Angie Tumblin; and several great-nieces & great-nephews.
Dan was also loved and appreciated by his second family of Edie's, Garrett & Debbie Davison & children Lourdes, Crisdean, Gabriella & Brianna, Travis & Alisa Davison & children Austin & Taylor, Julie Davison; plus Edie's brother, sisters, sisters-in-law, and several nieces & nephews who called him Uncle Dan.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-In-Law Paul & Emma (Sampsel) Wilhelm; a great-niece, Megan Bratton; a nephew, Spencer Donahue; and a brother-in-law, Jim Tumblin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Darling Run Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his first wife Sandy.
