Barbara Dunn Obituary

Danville – Barbara Ellen “Grandma” Dunn, 83, passed away March 17 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born March 20, 1935 in Amity to the late Gail and Helen (Albright) Daniels. Barbara was a graduate of Amity High School and  retired in May of 1993 from the Mt. Vernon Developmental Center after 25 years of employment. She was a member of the Jelloway United Methodist Church.

Barbara was known for her laugh and sense of humor. You never knew what she was going to say. Her home was always open and welcoming and you never left hungry. Her favorite job was being a grandma. Besides her four grandchildren, she had many honorary grandchildren, as once her grandkids’ friends were introduced to her, they were instructed to call her grandma as well. Even her home health nurses were told to just call her “Grandma”.

“Grandma” is survived by her son, Harry Michael (Connie) Dunn of Prospect, four grandchildren, Vicki (Aaron) Widmar of Kettering, Nicole Dunn of Oxford, and Nicholas and Hollie Dunn of Prospect. She is  also survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Daniels, and Esther Daniels, both of Fredericktown, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, her cousin, Dorothy, and three special friends, Nell Clouston, Jean Holt, and Neil Staats.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Dunn, whom she married April 21, 1956, her four brothers, Robert, Richard, Paul, and John Daniels, and her two sisters, Mildred Coon and Mary Daniels.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Fischer Funeral Home, 403 High St., in Danville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22 at the Jelloway united Methodist Church. Pastor Ruth Douglas will officiate. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the church, 21248 Wooster Road Danville, 43014. Fischerfuneralhome.com
