Brian E. Durbin

        DANVILLE - Brian Edward Durbin, 45, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at The Ohio State University James Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. 

        He was born Nov. 7, 1978 to Michael L. and Betty J. (Horn) Durbin, and was a 1997 graduate of Danville High School. He was a certified paramedic and firefighter currently serving as a Captain with the Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, and was the former Association President. He was an ACLS/PALS Instructor with Knox Community Hospital, and he owned and operated West Main Farms in Brown Twp., where he was also serving as a Township Trustee since 2008. Brian was very involved with 4-H and Junior Fair and was a Director on the Knox County Senior Fair Board since 2015. He was also very active in the community, especially with the Danville Athletic Boosters, Danville Youth Softball and DARCI Field.

        Brian is survived by his wife, Jillian B. (Elder) Durbin of Danville, whom he married Oct. 4, 2014; and their two children, Hayley and Cody Durbin; his mother, Betty J. Durbin of Danville; two siblings, Eric (Tammy) Durbin of Dover, and Melissa (Charles) Duncan of Danville; nieces & nephews,Andrew (Emma) Durbin, Nicholas (Alanis) Durbin, Reagan Durbin, Taylor (Cal Honabarger) Duncan, Hannah Duncan;several great nieces and nephews; aunt and uncle, Bonnie & Gene Stanger; his father and mother-in-law, Patrick & Sandra Elder; and sisters-in-law, Janet (Jacob) Kellstadt, and Julie Elder; nieces and nephew, Jake, Jewell, and Jemma Kellstadt.

        He was preceded in death by his father, Michael, and his grandparents, Loraine & Regina Horn, Ronald Sr. & Pauline Durbin. 

        Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, at the North Bend Church of the Brethren, 24458 Orange Hill Road Danville, 43014. Pastor Patrick Bailey will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7:00 pm Saturday at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
