Brian McKinley Obituary

 

                MT. VERNON- Brian Mark McKinley, age 56, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with his Lord, Friday October 15, 2021 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

                Brian was born June 12, 1965 in Wilmington to Richard O. and Kathy K. (Holmes) McKinley, who reside in Howard. He graduated from Wilmington High School and attended Cedarville University.

                His earlier years were devoted to law enforcement but due to a back injury, discovered his true

calling in the field of Nursing. Brian graduated from Fortis School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

He enjoyed working in home health services, where he truly felt needed and satisfied, helping those in need.

                His parents noticed Brian’s early interest in sports. Immediately after high school, he graduated from Harry Wendelstedt’s School for Umpires. He enjoyed coaching baseball and football. One of his most noted challenges in sports, was coaching his sister’s softball team. He coached football and baseball at all levels from colt to high school, becoming well known and respected among coaching staffs around the Danville and Wilmington Ohio areas.

                Brian’s faith and family were important to him throughout his entire life, and touched the lives of many athletes and friends with his wit, humor and Christian beliefs.    

                Brian is survived by his parents Richard and Kathy McKinley, his children, Joshua of Grove City, Elizabeth of Hillsboro and Jason of Heath; grandchildren Carson, Jayden and Asher; his sister, Kimberly S. (Stewart) Nyhart of Danville; nephews, Zachary (Sarah) Brewer, Brycen, Colin, Nathan, Jesse and Jared Nyhart.

                He enjoyed the company of his aunts and uncles, Ken and Susan McKinley, Vincent and Rita Holmes, Rocky and LuAnn Holmes, Susan and Jim Mattson, all of whom were a great influence in forming lifetime family bonds and values. Brian is also survived by many great nephews and cousins.

                Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at Fischer Funeral Home, 403 High St. Danville, OH 43014, with Pastor Patrick Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 18975 Chapel Rd., Danville.  Lunch will follow in the church at Wesley Chapel. A live stream of the service will be available on Brian’s obituary page at the funeral home website, www.fischerfuneralhome.com Visitation is on Wednesday, Oct. 20th from 5 to 8 p.m., and also one hour prior to service time on Thursday.

                Brian’s family encourages the use of masks for visitors attending the services.
