Brinkhaven - Charles J. "Jack" Thatcher, 89, passed away Wednesday May 14, 2014 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.
Jack was born in Brinkhaven on September 27, 1924 to the late Charles Wilmer and Sara Elizabeth (Hunt) Thatcher.
He married Lois N. Mast on May 25, 1966. She preceded him in death on Wednesday January 2, 2013. He served in the Army from 1942-1945 in the 44th Infantry Division. He worked as an electrician for Flxible in Loudonville for 23 years, and was a member of the Millersburg Mennonite Church, the Danville Post of the American Legion, and the former State Highway Patrol Auxiliary Unit.
He is survived by a sister, Helen Crill of Loudonville, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd, and sisters; Ottie, Mabel, and Wilma.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery, where the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will perform military rites. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
