Obituary

 

                WARSAW- Cheryl Darlene (Waters) Kempf, 73, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Mt. Vernon Health & Rehabilitation Center.

                She was born May 7, 1948 in Coshocton to the late Merton and Kathleen (Awwiller) Waters. She graduated from River View High School in 1966, Otterbein College in 1970, and earned her Masters of Education from Ashland College in 1988.

                Cheryl was a member of the Warsaw Presbyterian Church. She was a school teacher for over 41 years, most of that time in the River View School District. In addition to teaching, she tutored and taught piano to many students.

                She enjoyed playing the flute, raising her many cats, and spending time with her family. However, the greatest joy of her life was her only grandson, Kai Jason Kempf.

                She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steven C. Kempf of Warsaw, whom she married June 20, 1970; her children, Kade Kempf of Newark, and Kisha Kempf of Boca Raton, FL; her grandson, Kai Jason Kempf of Newark; and a brother, Randy Waters of Jasper, GA.

                In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Carl & Minnetta (Carnes) Kempf; and a sister-in-law, Linda Waters.

                Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastors Bob Wright & Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time. Cheryl would ask those attending to please dress casual. Capacity is limited due to COVID-19 precautions, however a live stream of services will be available at service time  on Cheryl’s obituary page on the funeral home website, www.fischerfuneralhome.com

                In lieu of flowers, Cheryl’s family suggests donations to the Coshocton Co. Animal Shelter, 21755 TR 164 Coshocton, 43812; or to the Warsaw Presbyterian Church, 306 4th St. Warsaw, OH 43844.

                Her family would also like to thank the staff at InCare Ohio Hospice and the Mt. Vernon Health & Rehabilitation Center for the care Cheryl received in her final days.
