Donald Allen, Sr. Obituary

 

       WEST LAFAYETTE- Donald Eugene Allen, Sr., 87, of West Lafayette, passed away April 27, 2023 at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.

       He was born March 26,1936 in Coshocton to the late George T.  and Juanita G. (Fouch) Allen. He married June (Sowers) Allen on February 5,1956; celebrating 67 years together.

       He started working in high school on his Uncle Lou's farm and at a filling station. He worked on the highway leading up to the famous Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. Most of his years were spent in management at coal companies. In his later years he worked alongside his grandson, Vic, as an integral part of Vic Allen Construction and Excavating. 

       He enjoyed camping and boating at Salt Fork State Park with his family, mowing grass, and "moving dirt" (operating heavy equipment).

       Surviving in addition to his wife are his six children, Donnie (Connie) Allen, Suzie (John) Blackstone, Billie (Brian Moore) Allen, Danny Allen, Melinda (Greg) Michael, and Kim (Mark Lahna) Allen; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; his sister, Bonnie Robinette; sisters-in-law, Polly Allen and Susie Lapp; and several nieces and nephews.

       In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George W. Allen; an infant brother, Richard Lee Allen; a half-sister, Gerane Rohner; and daughter in-law, Marti Allen. 

       He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A private family service will be held. Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is assisting the family. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
