Eugene Kilpatrick Obituary

WARSAW- K. Eugene Kilpatrick, 84, of Warsaw, OH, passed away on March 24th, 2024. He was born on February 4th, 1940, in Zanesville, OH to the late H. Kenneth and Esther Mae (Smith) Kilpatrick-Mizer. Eugene chose to show maturity and love beyond his years as he cared for his mother and brothers from a young age. He was a pillar of faith and loved and served his family with unwavering faithfulness and a quiet gentleness. His presence was constant and stoic and he had a servant’s heart. He had a spiritual and common-sense wisdom that he shared with those around him.

Eugene was a graduate of Warsaw High School in 1958. He worked at Thompson’s IGA during his high school years.  He worked for Town and Sanders for 29 years where he became a Supervisor.  After Town and Sanders closed he served River View School systems as a custodian for 27 plus years, starting as a night custodian and retiring as the head of the Custodial and Maintenance department. Those who worked for him respected him as a humble supervisor.

Eugene devotedly loved his wife, Melba Kilpatrick, displaying Christ’s consistent, steady love in every moment of their 59 years of marriage. He will be additionally missed by his son and his wife, Tim and Danelle Kilpatrick; his daughter, Martha (Kilpatrick) Banjoff; and his grandchildren, MacKrea (and CJ) Larue, Kaitlyn (and Beau) Garrett, Levi (and Kayla) Kilpatrick, Charlie Kilpatrick, and Kilee Banjoff, also his seven great-grandchildren, Lena, Gracie, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Gideon Larue, Isaac Kilpatrick and Albert Garrett. Eugene has 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Darrell (Jeanne) Kilpatrick, Gary (Anne) Kilpatrick, Randy (Cindy) Mizer, Sue (Steve) Allen, David Kilpatrick, Stephen Kilpatrick, Wayne Kilpatrick, Karen Summerfield.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther (Kilpatrick) Mizer; his father, H. Kenneth Kilpatrick; his brother, Bill Kilpatrick; his niece, Amanda Kilpatrick; and several grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Eugene loved Jesus and lived out his relationship with Him in the way he served his family and the church. He was a Gideon for 29 years, serving the last 14 as treasurer. He was a member of Warsaw Nazarene church for over 60 years until recently choosing to attend, serve, and occasionally snooze at Coshocton Christian Alliance. He spent many years of his life camping with his wife, hunting with his brothers, son and grandchildren, and attending any family members’ sporting event he could manage. He was the biggest fan of any professional team out of Cleveland or local team lucky enough to have a family member on the roster. He also enjoyed summer gardening and making deer jerky for every family event.

Eugene’s deeply respected and valued what he referenced as“Jesus’ Doctrine,” specifically the Beatitudes found within the favored passage of the Sermon on the Mount. He was faithful to this passage throughout his life, and is now reaping the promised blessings within: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3-10
