Zephyrhills, FL - Glen W. Turney, 83, passed away on November 20, 2022, after a brief illness.
Glen was born on September 27, 1939, to Dwight and Mary (Minard) Turney of Danville, Ohio.
After Glen graduated from Danville High School in 1957, he attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio receiving a bachelor’s degree. Glen received his MBA from the Ohio University in 1987.
In 1958 Glen married the love of his life, Gretchen (Cherie Mavis) Turney in Danville. After graduating from the College of Wooster, Glen began working at Rubbermaid Commercial Products Company in Wooster as a computer programmer in the early days of business computers. He transferred to Rubbermaid in Winchester, Virginia and worked there until 1974. While living in Winchester he was very active with the Kiwanis Club.
Glen then worked as the director of Computer Information Systems with the Merrill Publishing Company in Columbus, Ohio. After that, Glen worked at Kenyon College in the Computer Information Department in Gambier, Ohio from 1990 until he retired as Director of Institutional Information in 2006.
After retirement Glen and Gretchen moved to Zephyrhills, Florida, where they were both very active in their church with Glen taking on the position of Financial Officer with the church board. They also enjoyed golfing, going on adventures with their travel club and spending wonderful times with their friends.
Along with his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his sister Iva (Turney) Payne and brother-in-law, Harold Payne.
Glen is survived by his wife Gretchen (Mavis) Turney, his son Michael (Daina) Turney and his daughter Kim (Heather) Turney Schmidt, his grandson Alex (Danielle) Turney, his granddaughter Rachel Turney, and his great-granddaughter Lillian Turney. He is also survived by his nephews Tim (Mary) Payne, and Rick (Julie) Payne, and nieces Cheryl (Mike) Colopy and Laura (Phillip) Mickley.
Services will be held at the Danville United Methodist Church, 408 S. Market St. Danville, OH 43014, on Thursday December 1 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. John Idoine officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Internment will follow at the Workman Cemetery.
