Gwenn Snyder Obituary

COSHOCTON- Gwenn L. Snyder, affectionately known as “Who Who,” 91, of Coshocton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday January 25, 2021. She passed peacefully at her residence. Gwenn was born July 27, 1929 in Millcreek Township to the late Jay and Esta (McBride) Lawrence.

Gwenn was a 1947 graduate of Keene School. She proudly attended every alumni banquet since her graduation and was recognized with the distinguished Keene Alumni Award in 2018.

Gwenn began her career at Pope Gosser before returning home to work on the farm and raise her daughter. She later returned to secretarial work at Close Irving Insurance in Millersburg. She continued her career in insurance at Jacobs Vanaman Agency in Coshocton, where she worked as an insurance agent alongside her husband Roy until her retirement. Over the years, she attended various conferences and meetings within the National Secretaries Association. She was a lifelong member of Keene United Methodist Church where she served on numerous church committees over the years. Gwenn most recently attended Grace United Methodist Church and was blessed with the fellowship of fellow SAM Club members. The Coshocton community was an important part of her life. She was a dedicated supporter of several community groups including Clary Gardens, Roscoe Village Foundation, Footlight Players, and the Coshocton Community Choir. She faithfully attended the Coshocton Community Choir concerts as music was something she truly enjoyed. She served as organist at Keene United Methodist Church for many years. In addition, she shared her musical talents at many weddings and community events, accompanying her sister, Margaret Lou, who was a vocalist. Gwenn loved her friends and family. She was a member of the same card club for 70 years as well as participating in her Golden Girls card club in later years. Gwenn could often be found cheering on her grandchildren at ballgames, where she was known as “Grandma Bear”. She also was a proud grandma who drove her granddaughters in many festival parades when they were Canal Royalty. She took pleasure in reading, writing correspondence, and traveling. Lakeside, Ohio was a special destination for her with family in her later years.

On September 1, 1976, she married Roy Snyder, who preceded her in death in 2003. Together they enjoyed annual trips to Florida and vacationed on Cape Cod visiting relatives.
