DANVILLE- Judith Ann (Gardner) Colopy, 82, passed away Thursday April 21, 2022 at Kobacker Hospice House in Columbus.
Judy was born January 23, 1940 to Thomas and Dorothy (Nommay) Gardner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 61 years, James Lee Colopy, and brother Thomas Gardner Jr.
She is survived by her children, Fr James Colopy Jr., Marty (Diane) Colopy, Jennifer (Calvin) Okimura, Andrew (Kelly) Colopy, Stephanie (George Fesler) Colopy, Stacie (Jim) Aman, and Leah (Charles Morgan) Colopy; her brothers and sisters, Joseph (Charlotte) Gardner, Lawrence (Jessie) Gardner, Jean Gardner, and Mary Ellen (Bill) Durbin; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Judy’s legacy was her kitchen. She loved to cook for family and anyone who walked through the door. One of her favorite sayings was, “There is always an extra potato to add to the pot.” She loved family gatherings, especially playing cards well into the night. Judy loved her family, gardening and canning. She very seldom used a cook book but did use inherited recipes. She could whip up a meal to feed a sports team, which she did on many occasions. In addition to cooking for family, she was a cook at the Danville Elementary school and retired as a Danville School bus driver.
She was a lifelong member of the St Luke Catholic Church in Danville
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 27, between the hours 5:00-8:00 pm at St Luke Catholic Church 307 S. Market St. Danville, Ohio, with a vigil at 7:30. A funeral Mass will be held also at St. Luke at 11:00 am on Thursday April 28, with visitation an hour before the funeral mass. Interment will follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
