Lawrence Blubaugh Obituary

HOWARD- Lawrence Owen Blubaugh, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Nov. 2, 1944 in Mount Vernon to the late Otto R. and Ruth Marie (Colopy) Blubaugh. He was a 1964 graduate of Danville High School. He was a certified plumber, having worked for Houston Plumbing & Heating as well as doing contract plumbing on his own and lending a hand to friends and family. He was also a Union electrician and an auto mechanic before retiring from the Mount Vernon Development Center as a boiler engineer.

Lawrence loved anything outdoors, including hunting, riding bicycles, and fishing, especially with his grandson, Zachary. He enjoyed caring for animals, was an avid gardener, and could repair tractors and all types of equipment. He could be quite adventurous, having once decided he would like to see the running of the bulls in Spain, so he just took off to see it up close.

His love for his children and grandchildren was unmatched. He was the definition of a family man, “100% Blubaugh”.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra (McDonald) Blubaugh of Howard, whom he married Feb. 21, 2006; two daughters, Kimberly A. (David) Stuller of Mount Vernon, and Jennifer N. (Bill) Bennett of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Lillian Stuller, Audrey Stuller, and Zachary Hajjar; his siblings, Father Homer Blubaugh of Danville, Mary Jane (Larry) Ocker of Bellevue, Stephen Blubaugh of Howard, Barbara (James) Corba of Fredericktown, Henry (Carol) Blubaugh of Smithville, Martin (Paula Jo) Blubaugh of Danville, Suzanne (Kelley) Lott of Marshall, VA, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Mickley of Howard; a sister-in-law, Judy Blubaugh of Bellville; and numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clement Blubaugh; nephews, Todd Mickley, Shawn Blubaugh, and two infant nephews, Brad and Brett Blubaugh.

Visitation will be at St. Luke Catholic Church on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., immediately followed by a wake service. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 also at St. Luke Catholic Church, with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating.
