Obituary
Howard – Marlene Springer, age 75, left for her eternal trip to Heaven on July 29, 2023 with her husband of 57 years by her side.
She was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio on November 25, 1947 to Marlin Smith Morey and Lucille (Cline) Morey. She graduated from Centerburg High School in 1965. She married her husband, Jim Springer, on June 10, 1966. She worked briefly as a beautician before starting a family and raising her four children. She was a member of the Woods Christian Church where she was actively involved in organizing the annual Kids’ Day festivities. She also sang with a group of church ladies at local nursing homes. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, and peaceful moments enjoying nature on her front porch swing, but the thing that brought her the most joy was spending precious time with her family.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Ted (Amy) Springer of Denton, NC, Angela Wells of Howard, Christina (Kevin) Fiant of Delaware, and Marlin (Rachel) Springer of Howard; grandchildren, Emily (Cody) Rager, Alex Casebolt, Luke Wells, Autumn (Tanner) Perdue, Brooke Springer, Nathan Fiant, Dustin Springer, Natalie Fiant, and Dylan Springer; great grandchildren, Landon Wells, Ripkin Rager, and Riggins Rager; brother, Neil (Sharon) Morey of Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin and Lucille; brother, Dick Morey; and sisters, Patricia Hyatt and Lois Marie Morey.
A celebration of life service will be held for Marlene at the Woods Christian Church, 7557 Woods Church Rd. Walhonding, 43843, on Sunday, August 13 with visitation from 3-4:00 p.m. followed by a service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rheumatology Research Foundation at rheumresearch.org. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is assisting with arrangements.
