Martha Young Obituary

Warsaw - Martha Ann (Lowery) Young, 87, of Warsaw, passed on October 17, 2021 following a recent fall and complications after surgery at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Born June 2, 1934 to the late Clay M. and Nell G. (Swigert) Lowery of Coshocton, Martha and her husband the late Albert L. Young were married October 18, 1952. They lived on the family farm on New Castle Township Road 359 until October 2017.

Martha worked as the head cook at River View High School and the district cafeteria supervisor for 21 years. She was a member of the Dutch Run Trinity Church of Christ, the Walhonding Valley Grange, Coshocton County Farm Bureau, and the River View FFA Alumni. She was also a 4-H advisor for many years. She loved decorating her home and hosting meals for groups like the Farm Bureau Advisory Council, church board, and Extension homemakers club events as well as for her extended family. She enjoyed helping her community by volunteering her time and talents—especially cooking and baking. Martha always looked forward to the Coshocton County Fair, helping with the Grange display and assisting her family in displaying many agricultural products in the ag hall at the fair.

Martha is survived by her four children and their families, Dee Ann and George Kuhlman of Norwalk, Jo Ellen and Jeffrey Iden of Gratiot, Wayne Young of Warsaw, and Joy and Kent Bauman of Otway; her nine grandchildren and spouses include Lee Ann and Travis Kilgore of Bellefontaine, Lisa and Chris Ott of Milan, Jennifer Kuhlman and Scott Boswell of Norwalk, Janel and Mitch Blankespoor of Wilmington, Jay and Tomra Iden of Hebron, Jacie and Mark Simon of Batavia, Emily and Daniel Niemann of Dublin, Molly Bauman of Columbus, and Whitney Bauman of Otway, as well as eight great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Donna Rae Young and Ruth Parker. She also leaves behind many other dear family members, friends, and her church family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine J. (Lowery) Bucklew, and her brother, Guy S. Lowery.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, 412 E. Main Street, on Saturday, October 23. Friends and family may call from noon-2 p.m., and the funeral service and celebration of life will follow at 2:00 with pastor Mike Gibson and Jeff Iden officiating. Martha will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery near Warsaw.
