Howard – Mary (Rine) Ridgway, 74, passed away on September 18, 2020 at Mt. Vernon Health and Rehab.
She was born on May 13, 1946 in Newark. On October 31, 1970, she married William R. Ridgway, who preceded her in death along with their daughter, Tiffany Ann.
Mary served as a 4H Advisor, and was active with the Girl Scouts, the East Knox band Boosters, the Compassionate Friends Mount Vernon chapter, the Ohio Horseman’s Council, and the Mohican Trail, where she was instrumental in the building of the “Bridge of Dreams”. She worked in the Knox County Fair Board office, and retired after over 25 years from Kenyon College. She loved scrapbooking and her grandkids, and she was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she knew.
She is survived by her mother, Lottie Rine of Mount Vernon, her children, Heidi (Russell) Mickley of Danville, Scott Ridgway, and Jeremy Ridgway of Danville, Shannon Ridgway of Howard, and Karina (Harley) Filyaw of Danville, grandchildren, Joey and Kadence Mickley, Hannah Ridgway, Travis Jones, Christopher Ridgway, and Brantley and Jacob Filyaw, her sisters, Dianne (Dave) Dunbar of Lancaster, and Jeannie Dora Able (Tim Miller) of Wooster, her brother, Chuck Rine of Mount Vernon, and many sisters and brothers in-law.
A graveside funeral service, that will also be available on the Fischer Funeral Home-Danville Facebook page, will be held at 11:00 Wednesday morning, September 23, in the Workman Cemetery in Danville. Pastor Tom Duncan will officiate. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 Tuesday evening at the Fischer Funeral Home, 403 High St. Danville, with capacity limited inside.
