DANVILLE- Darwin Paul Sheldon, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Aug. 11, 1944 in Mt. Vernon to the late Darwin Burton and Alice Nan (Wallace) Sheldon. Paul worked as a jack of all trades throughout his life, being employed as a truck driver and in the oil fields until he purchased the Glenmont Tavern in the 1970s. He was the owner/operator until he sold the tavern to his cousin, Greg, and went to work with Mick Starner as the owner/operator of Glenmont Feed, the town feed mill. During that time, he also began farming and worked his hog farm, Mohican Valley Acres, until 1986. During his time as a farmer, he also worked as a bus driver for Danville Local Schools.

After his farm was sold in 1986, his family moved from Brinkhaven to Danville and he went to work as a truck driver for Cuddy Farms. He would go on to drive truck for Bulk Transit as well before finally starting his own trucking business in the late 1990s, Paul Sheldon Trucking. He retired from that business and used his free time to drive around eastern Knox County to keep an eye on anything and everything that caught his attention.

Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time outside, engaging in hunting and fishing whenever he could, as well as traveling, where he would make it a point to visit coal yards and train depots. He was an avid fan of bluegrass music and Danville sports, and he rarely missed a televised Reds or Guardians game if he could.

Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda M. (Clark) Sheldon of Danville, whom he married June 10, 1967; two sons, Darwin Michael Sheldon of Danville, and Jay Dee (Connie) Sheldon of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, BJ (Adam) Addair of Danville, and Maribeth Gordon of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, Nathan Lee Sheldon, and Samantha, Mackenzie, Austin & Kellyn Addair; a sister, Linda Lint of Danville; and two nieces.
