Robert Chase Obituary

                WARSAW- Robert John “Bob” Chase, 95, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

                He was born Oct. 28, 1925 in Coshocton to the late Clyde and Mabel (Perrigo) Chase. He was a 1943 graduate of Coshocton High School. After graduation he entered the U.S Navy where he served two years.  He married R. Alene (Courtright) Chase on May 31, 1946, who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2015.  

                Bob dedicated his life to his faith, family and his community. He was a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church, where he served as a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, and led music ministries. He completed four years at Ashland College, receiving a degree in Education. He retired from Warsaw High School and the JVS where he served as a teacher, principal, guidance counselor and Driver’s Ed instructor.   He was a former member & past President of the Warsaw Lions Club, and was active in their annual Minstrel Show.

                Bob enjoyed hunting for Indian artifacts and local history, golfing at Hill Top Golf Course, as well traveling around the country with his wife, Alene. One of the many joys of his life was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and Alene's favorite hang outs were the Coshocton Public Library and the Warsaw Pool Hall. Bob left an impact on everybody that he came in contact with.

                He is survived by a daughter, Mary Chase-Carey of Zanesville; four grandsons; Matthew (Katie) Carey of Dresden, Nicholas (LeeAnne) Carey of Coshocton, Morgan (Hannah) Carey of Howard, and Michah “MJ” (Cassandra) Carey of Newark; five great-grandchildren; Keegan, Zoee, Lana, Lincoln, and Hallie Carey; a sister Betty Lillibridge; and  many nieces and nephews.        

                In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy, Charles and Malcolm Chase, Lois Aaron and Helen Kamban; and a son-in-law, Mike Carey.

                A private family funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2021 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard.  A live stream of the services will be available on Bob’s obituary page at the funeral home website, www.fischerfuneralhome.com, for anyone who would like to watch remotely.

                Following the private services, a Celebration of Life that is open to the public will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the River View Community Park picnic shelter in Warsaw. Bob’s family would like to share stories of his life and fellowship in a place that was very important to him and his family.
